Social networking sites are great to mix and mingle with people with similar interests as you. It also allows you to interact with each other. One of the most common ways to communicate is through commenting. Putting comments for a blog post or a video post or any form of content is a means to gauge quality of the content, allow for constructive criticism and relationship marketing.
Unfortunately, most social networking sites are plagued with horrible comments or comments that are more spam-like than helpful. An example of what I call a spam comment goes like this; "Great Post", Fantastic post" and "Thanks for such wonderful info". It really makes you wonder how much you can gain from comments like that. Granted, one or two is tolerable but more than that it really becomes annoying and an eyesore.

Post useful comments that help your members to improve. Even if the comments are meant to commend them, elaborate and explain the good things you like about their content. If there is something you don't like about the content, avoid being inflammatory and derogatory. Constructive criticism is the key to help others improve and succeed. It is human nature to gravitate to someone who is helpful. Eventually, people will look up to you for advice and in the long run, your reputation might increase.
Comment Regularly
It pays to be an active participant in anything that you do online, even commenting. Commenting adds an additional voice to the already sea of people on social networking sites. You have to realize that most of the comments are either mostly not helpful or they are simply not enough comments. Commenting regularly especially in forums will help you get noticed by webmasters of moderators. So don't be afraid to comment even if you are a newcomer.
